rear speaker wiring

There is a rear speaker output, atleast I have it on my 04. It's right by the small 2 pieces that comes off that cover the side for the radio.

AP2s have rear speaker wires accessible by the driver's knee pad.
AP1s don't have the wires in the stock harness/connector at all.
This thread addresses adding them.

The stock HU has rear outputs, but there is no wiring for it. If you want to be able to use the fade setting, you can wire rear speakers into the rear speaker outputs.

The light blue 20-pin plug that goes into the back of the HU has empty slots. You would have to add female pin receptacles to that plug.
Or you could buy this: Metra 71 1721 and this: Scosche HA02BCB and wire them together.

Here's how:


+1 on this as this is what I did on My03, had to add pins and have the fade working if I want more back which is the way I have it, sound improvement was good and can hear it better with top down at speed.... follow above procedure...

Hard top guy sells a harness to connect rear speakers on Ap1 that came without rear speakers
