Default Write off :(

Well the last few weeks have been up and down to say the least,

It's been classed as a write off, Estimate to fix is £9218,

I am still waiting to find out what I will get paid for it,

Also what I can buy it back for, Any advice on what to aim for? 08 with 31k on the clocks, Full Honda service history,

If I can get it at a sensible price I am going to buy her back and get a runabout while I fix her,

I adore the car but me and the girlfriend walked away unhurt so I could not ask for more :)

Sorry to see this, especially after the time and effort [and money!] you've put into the car recently. What happened?

I'm not best positioned to advise but the main thing is:

For that kind of write off price, for sure that's major suspension damage, and probable chassis damage. Looks like a tank slapper with dire consequences, at least you're both ok. S2000's bite on some road surfaces, when I see sad pics like these I definitely don't miss mine

The rear subframe is very pricey new but its a project you could do for reasonable money DIY i guess, have you seen the repair est? I doubt chassis is bent, the cost will be that back end.

Assuming you could do it DIY for £2k parts for susp + door, i dont know how the arch etc gets repaired, panel beating or weld a panel in. Maybe £500 to paint. Then what you'll have a car which has bad history... Work back from there, itll be worth £2k lower than avg i guess.

9k?

Holy cow, thats stupid.

I reckon you could fix it for £4k tops.

Whats the rest - hire car costs?

Madness.

Regarding the 9k bill -I'm sure this is one of the reasons insurance prices are escalating. Repair companies charge top whack for everything, even labour charges seem to double for an 'insurance job'! This bolstering of repair costs is covered unfortunately by us the consumer.

If I was repairing this my self I'd be tempted to get the osr wishbones fit them and see how far the wheel is out. If its still out look closer into the hub and maybe the toe arm. The wishbones are chocolate soft, I'm sure they will deform enough to prevent the subframe from bending. The body damage doesn't look heavy enough to assume subframe/chassis damage, saying that I'm not a mechanic
