Default Terraclean - your thoughts?

Just read this in today's paper and checked it out on YouTube. What's everyone's thoughts on it?

No idea how much it costs (and I do wonder if Wheeler Dealers did a product placement deal) but I'd take my injectors out and clean them ultrasonically (by that I mean DIY them in my ultrasonic cleaner using Sea Clean) then I'd run some water though one of my vacuum pipes to steam clean carbon from the pistons.

I'd be concerned about detergents getting in my oil if I did run any cleaning system so I think I'd change the oil afterwards. I know there's a "before and after" hydrocarbons reading but it still reeks of snake oil to me and I'd personally not pay for this service - I'm sure thousands of people will though

I just saw and read about it today, my S is nearly 12 years old and I'd say it's insides were due a clean. I'm just mechanically challenged to do a DIY.

If you don't have tools/cleaning kit/mechanical inclination I think you could do a lot worse things to your engine - so if you have a spare £100 kicking around it's your choice to give it a go.

If I didn't have my tools/cleaning kit/mechanical inclination I'd spend the money on a bottle of Red Line SI-1 and the rest on V-Power then take the S out for a good long Italian tune-up making sure I hit v-tec as often as possible

Would you trust a guy who has just grabbed the hot end of an ignition lead?

Has anyone actualy seen that episode, if so was the description so detailed?

Has anyone seen wheeler dealers spend 5mins on s single topic?

That seriously looks like an advert to me, whether it works or not it flipping expensive, I think I'll stick to my routine of a can of BK-44 once a year.

Take a look through the other vids, the "infomercial" one has a great line "When I picked up the car it felt greener!"
And would you trust anyone with a name like Hnatiw?

I saw the wheeler dealer episode and at the time I thought an unusual amount of time was spent on it although I don't remember him saying the brand name, plus they do also promote other trades/services (that chap that did the linishing on the frog-eyed sprite springs to mind) so I've got nothing against product placement, etc

If you wanted to do something yourself, I'd say take the injectors out and use one of the postal ASNU injector cleaning services you can find online. Once you have a nice fine injector spray pattern again any piston carbon will probably start to burn off at high revs anyway. But as I said before SI-1 Redline fuel system cleaner (or as above BK-44 which also has a good rep) and a tank of V-power FTW

There is also the controversial "sucking some water in through the brake servo" steam cleaning method - if you do a search on here you'll find some polarised views on this. Personally, I don't think there's a problem as long as you don't tip a 2 litre jug in and lock up your engine (water doesn't compress)
