Seems to have been the seals leaking oil, causing oil to burn excessively, which lead to the destruction of my new engine.

Why did you try vtec when your oil pressure was acting up and why didnt you check your oil at stops. I check my oil every 100 miles/1 week/fuel fill up just to make sure its topped up as AP1's do burn oil.
Sucks that you've spun a new short block, wouldnt it be cheaper to get new shells, you might be lucky and not need a regrind but if its sounding like a hammer then it may be too late but still cheaper to regrind and shell than to buy a new block?

Just found out my 07 with 82k on it has a warped block.... the car smelled like coolant all the time and even after the head was rebuilt for the 2nd time I was still getting air into the cooling system. Took the head off and found the 2 outside pistons sandy and their spark plugs semi melted. Sounds like I was running out of fuel

Waiting on a 09 to arrive right now.
