AP1 Clutch buzz - TSB - best fix?
Hello all.
So, next year I think I will address my clutch buzz issue. As I understand there is a TSB on the issue, but I could only find limited info.
This thread was helpful. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-un...0054-a-323260/
Have any AP1 owners fixed their clutch buzz, and if so, which parts did you use? I hear an updated OEM clutch disc works, but also wondering if any aftermarket parts worked too.
Would be nice if she was nice and quiet for next year. I'm in a new area, so I don't know any mechanics... I guess I'll be going to the dealer...

a new ap2 Honda oem clutch disc will solve the issue, use whatever pressure plate you like.

Also I found out the old and new clutch disc part numbers.
Old: 22200-PCX-005 (clutch buzz)
New: 22200-PCX-055
While the transmission is out, should I just swap the disc, or is there anything else that it makes sense to swap out while it is open? I guess the bearing as well and some urea grease.

if you choose to use a dealer, westgate Honda in London has a mechanic jvf1 used for his clutch replacement on the Si. We raced for years with Brad S. He's the only Honda tech I would trust.
The other alternative is a fellow I know in the Paris area. he's owned a few s2000's over the years and somehow got a miata and an s2000 to have a baby. try Nick. If you ask real nice, he might just be able to help out.
good luck

How bad is the average dealership tech? Isn't there a few ace guys in every shop to help the other guys out? How does it really work? I mean, any dealership should *in theory* be able to swap out a clutch, no?

I think the dealer charges 6hours to do this so will cost you probably 8-900 labour. Don't quote me though. I never get the dealer to do work on my s2000 but when I bought my AP1 back in 2002 I got the dealer to do the tsb as part of the deal. over the years my clutch starter to stick the pedal to the floor and became really hard and rough to press. They didn't grease the throw out bearing properly and eventually became metal on metal. I didn't realize how bad it was till Afzan drove my car.
Just stick to the Honda oem diskand pick a pressure plate of your choice. The ACT HD is a popular one but isn't necessary unless you plan to make more than stock power. DONT GET AN AFTERMARKET DISK.
