Track time in the summer in TX?
Hey guys. I'm moving to Austin this summer and I'm curious how you guys deal with the heat during the summer at the track. We have some hot summer track days here as well and I tend to just avoid some of the hotter months. It hits 110-115 degrees at Thunderhill in the summer, but it's not humid like TX. So questions:
1) do you guys still hit the track during the hot summer months or wait it out? Do you use a cool shirt system?
2) how does an NA s2k handle track time in that kind of heat? Are cooling mods for the car a must? Larger radiator and adding an oil cooler?
Thanks ahead for your input.

I've raced at COTA multiple times in summer. Brakes are the major cooling challenge, but that also depends on your driving. Recognizing your brake is getting overheated and knowing how to adjust driving to help them means you can drive like me with no cooling mods on brakes. But I definitely can't do every lap at 95%. Stock radiator I never saw temps get over 205. I did do the canton oil pan though, as long sustained turns I was loosing oil pressure. Also you can skip run groups that are past 11am, as there is a massive difference in track temp in morning compared to mid day.
