Default Soft Top Tension Cables

Was putting a new soft top on my 1999 s2000 at the weekend and found that the left hand tension cable is broken. Have called two Honda dealers and they both said that it will be March before they are in. Anyone know of an aftermarket source or breaking a car and willing to post one? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Try a cycle shop, take the cable along and see if it's the same as brake cable, or a motor factor for some hand brake cable then get someone to fix the ends on.

Yep think that's what I'm going to have to do. My only worry is that a brake or throttle cable might wear through easier but it does just look like ordinary cable. Thanks.

Stainless steel cable is a common small sailboat part and the boat riggers have the tools to make one easily stronger than bike cables. Not sure enough about fittings.
