A sad day, that was, when the NSX successor project was canceled by Honda. It was back in February when Dick Colliver, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co said that the NSX successor was mostly completed, but no “go” was given to bring it on production. However, John Watts, Acura’s senior manager has revealed that an Acura sports car has just been revised but not as on a high level as the NSX.
It will not be a competitor to Nissan GT-R or Ferrari F430, but it will be downgraded to compete with cars such as Nissan 370Z. The NSX was “too high a halo,” Watts said. “For it to be fully effective (as a halo vehicle for the brand), it couldn’t be too far removed” from Acura’s other products. Its not the best of news, since there is no V10 engine with 600hp involved, but at least will be able to see a new sports car.

If they’re targeting the 370Z as a rival now for this car, they should just call it the S2000 successor instead. Whatever this car shapes up to be, it sounds better then a front-wheel drive hybrid S2000 successor posted earlier. From this early picture, its similiar to the Hyundai Genesis coupe, which just came out with RWD and good power.

If its targeting the 370Z then why the hell is it not the new S roadster??? And why would you badge it as Acura… Honda S (whatever the number it be) should be in the rank as the 370Z and come out with it soon, they have been giving Nissan too much slack…

if it’s targeting 370z, honda should’ve develop a car based on S2000. this NSX sucessor looks no different than RSX or the new hyundai…I’m not impressed at all..

let not forget that the 370z is running slightly better lap times than the nsx,so if it an nsx replacement it makes sense that they should benchmark the z, s2000 platform was simply too slow and outdated, sorry

Why 370z competitor, an Acura should be an “Acura” They should set their sites on 335i, G37, and A5’s

An NSX successor means that it has to be MR layout, RWD and mid-mounted engine. The NSX started off being badged an Acura the first few years starting in 1990 so this can’t be too far off from the truth.
