Honda S2000 Rat Rod Renderings are Strange But Compelling

If somebody built a Honda S2000 rat rod, it should probably look like this.

Unique Concept

Many an artist has taken a crack at reinventing the Honda S2000 in digital form over the years, whether that be with custom bodywork or even dreaming up what a rebirth of the beloved sports car might look like. Every so often, we also come across some pretty wild ideas involving the S2000 too, including this crazy rat rod drawn up by an Instagram-based automotive artist who goes by TRAPNDETH.

Spirit of Danger

For the most part, rat rods are based on vintage machines from the 1930s or prior, and involve heavily modified bodywork that embraces minimalism, patina, and massive powerplants that give them the aura of being dangerous - or the reality as well. That spirit is alive and well in these renderings of an S2000 rat rod, too.

Black Sheep

Appropriately named "The Black Sheep," this digital blue S2000 rat rod has indeed been lowered as close to the ground as physically possible, then stripped of all of its front bodywork to reduce weight and center everyone's attention around its powerplant, which features velocity stacks up top.

Track Vibes

With a total of eight stacks up top, this is clearly a V8 - not an inline-four cylinder powerplant like the S2000's F20C or F22C1 that originally came with the car. It puts power to the ground via four massive, sticky tires as well, which gives the car more of a track vibe than the typical big and little combination present on rat rods.

Race Inspired

There are plenty of other track-focused features present and accounted for, ranging from the giant carbon fiber front lip to the roll cage and racing bucket seats, while the rear bumper has also been removed and the rear fenders chopped up.

Bringing It To Life

As for that engine, it's been framed with tubular chassis pieces as well, which only adds to the overall effect. Altogether, it's quite well done, and we could certainly see someone emulating such an idea in real life. Heck, we'd like to see it, honestly.

Done Before

Whether or not that will actually happen remains to be seen, but it wouldn't actually be the first time somebody has built an S2000 rat rod - in fact, we previously reported on such a machine last November that was perhaps even wilder looking than this one.
