Sad Ending

Many in the S2Ki community are familiar with the cool S2000-powered Nissan Figaro built by Japanese tuning outfit Racing Factory Yamamoto (RFY). This sweet little ride has seen plenty of time on the road and the track since its completion, but a recent outing at Fuji Speedway ended in total disaster, sadly, as we can see in this video from akicha.s_official.

Power Infusion

The Figaro itself is a pretty cool, one-year-only retro coupe that has its fair share of fans around the world, but it wasn't exactly fast in stock form. That changes with a good old-fashioned F20C swap, however, and this particular build is undoubtedly a ton of fun to drive. Or was, at least.

Major Crash

The Figaro driver was headed down the front straight with a Subaru WRX behind it, which was clearly moving at a much faster clip. It's unclear if the Subie driver wasn't paying attention or simply didn't see the little Nissan, but either way, it just drives on up and smashes into the back of the Figaro, sending it careening off the track.

Rainy Day

This looks more like a track day outing than any sort of competition, though it's unclear from the video exactly what's going on. Regardless, it's a rainy day at the track, which could have caused problems, but the accident itself is difficult to discern. How in the world does something like this happen?

Valid Excuses?

Perhaps the Subie driver's windshield was fogged up, or maybe the rooster tail of water spraying from the rear of the Figaro obscured their vision. Either way, it's pretty inexcusable that they continued to move at such a fast clip if their vision was impaired in any way.

Mechanical Failure?

Of course, there's also the possibility that the WRX suffered some sort of mechanical failure that made avoiding an accident impossible. But in the video, it doesn't appear that the driver even tries to slow down, and simply careens into the Figaro with no regard at all.

No Updates

According to the post, it seems that both drivers were fine after this awful-looking crash, but the Figaro appears to be a goner. RFY hasn't yet posted anything about the incident, so we don't have a ton of information to go by, but hopefully, they'll give us an update on this cool build soon.
