Flawed Execution?

The internet is a strange place, full of weird ideas and even weirder art. Case in point - this Honda S2000 and Acura TSX Sport Wagon mashup, which was recently posted in the Facebook Group Nose Swap Nation. The whole premise of making Honda's sports car a bit more practical isn't that farfetched, but as far as the execution goes, well, we'll let you be the judge.

Future Collectible?

Of course, the result is a vehicle that conjures up memories of BMW's Z3M - or, as it's otherwise known, the Clown Shoe. Folks tend to either love or hate this strangely styled model, but it has quickly become a collectible item, partially because it wasn't very popular when new and not many were made.

Family Hauler

One would have to believe that would also be the case with any kind of Honda S2000 wagon. Heck, wagons in general are a niche product in the U.S. and haven't sold in big numbers in decades. These days, most folks prefer SUVs and crossovers for family-hauling duties, though we enthusiasts would rather have a fun to drive wagon.

Flawed Execution

The Acura TSX Sport Wagon itself is a great example of this. It was intended to be a sporty, fun-to-drive family hauler, though Acura messed up by only making it available with a five-speed automatic and the less-powerful 2.4-liter four-cylinder. Thus, enthusiasts - the very people this car was made for - largely passed on it, and it soon found itself in the great pile of discontinued vehicles in the sky.

Feasible Idea?

But if Honda was to bring back the S2000, would a wagon variant be feasible, given the presumption that it would be properly equipped? We can see the appeal in a sporty, manual transmission-equipped, high-revving family hauler, one that has a bit of extra power and some chassis enhancements to compensate for the added weight.

Still a Place

This formula works in other parts of the world like Europe, where estates have long been popular with buyers seeking space for the whole family without giving up their joy of driving. A number of German wagons are still around, and new variants like the Audi A6 Avant have been hot items on the new vehicle market in recent months.

Slim Chances

Of course, this is all purely speculative and hinges on Honda bringing back the S2000 in the first place. Even if that were to actually happen, the chances of it being offered as a wagon are virtually zero. Still, it's fun to dream, and that's precisely what this rendering was designed for.
