How cool, the very first page I visit on this forum, and you guys are talking about the first S2000 I've ever driven... took it for a test drive yesterday. I instead ended up getting a 2003 up in Fife, WA today.

lol, I didn't notice the youtube video and thought you were posting content that was actually an ad... targeted at me because of my search history. Now wonder it showed me that car.

Still doesn't change that I love my "new" 2003

Congrats on the purchase!
Still a funny way to introduce yourself

You're coming in just as the forum activity is ramping down due to the colder weather, but keep around and things will pick back up.

I saw your other post about the musty air and the carpet, etc.
One thing they say to do for smelly HVAC systems is to run the A/C on full blast for a while.
The A/C dries out the air through the system and the cold (and dryness) helps kill the bacteria that causes the odor.

Id be happy to help you detail/clean the car sometime, though I'm currently in Bend for a while.
Getting the carpets clean, etc is no problem.

Wow, thank you, Aaron, that's a really generous offer! I didn't get notified of your response, so I'm just seeing it here by chance now.

I got the car detailed locally, and it looked nice... but clearly this is something I'm going to have to do on my own since "nice" doesn't pass for restoring original look.

I've been slowly getting her all cleaned up (greasing the rubbers, swapping out clutch fluid...). I'll give the AC+Heat technique another try. I'm starting to think it's in the driver's seat, harder to get to from the air.

I'm also getting my garage organized. I just put in a motion sensor that turns on 6 reflective shop lights with 6500k bulbs on my side of the garage when I pull in (or muddle about around my car). Makes indoor winter detailing possible

I grow to love this 2003 AP1 more every day. Mmmmm it's so visceral... But intellectually I think I'm supposed to love a "brand new" 2008 AP2 with very low miles instead. Both of the AP2s I test drove were huge disappointments. Slow and sloppy. I think I need to try one that's been tuned. I think if I can fix the DBW lag, then I might be able to learn to love the softer handling too. Any ideas where I could try a tuned AP2?
