That would be the SSM concept car. I believe it was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1995, and spawned what would be the current day S2000. The front of the SSM was very interesting as well; with large headlights recessed low down in the front bumper. A neat idea, but a far cry from what Government Standards would allow. I would suggest Daniel Carney's book on the S2000 for better insight into the SSM and its history.
