1457- Evap leak from canister side.

Although you'd have a better chance of a loose cap fixing the problem if it was code 1456.

1457 is for a leak in the evap canister system, not sure how this will go. Try it.

P1457 is for a canister side leak, a loose or missing gas cap won't cause it. (Trust me, I've tried to get one to code a 1457 with it)

Most likely cause in cold climates is a corroded/inernally shorted bypass solenoid. H20 can get inside the solenoid, and if it contains road salt corrode the windings.

It's still possible that is has a small vapor leak as well.

Really need to take it to a shop who has experience diagnosing EVAP systems, and has the equipment needed. ( A good scan tool, and a smoke generator)

This is really strange last week I got a CEL that brought up the code for throttle body sensor low circuit output. I cleared it and decided to see if it would come back on. Well the CEL came back on this am but today it was the P1457 EVAP Emission control system leak detected (control canister system)

Any other ideas?

The TPS sensor and EVAP systems are fairly isolated. They only share common reference Voltage. If there was a problem on the Reference voltage side of either circuit, you'd have multiple DTC's for several other systems as well.

So do you think if I fix the throttle body then the EVAP system part of the solenoid will be fine?

Definitely not

I have a quick fix that has worked well for some. It's long winded to write, but it involves cleaning two connections and some tapping

I'll PM ya my #.

I doubt the 2 DTC's are related.

I wish I saw this over the weekend. If this doesn't involve the car being lifted then I can probably do it right here at work.... Bill let me know
