I've had the 1457 once. It happened when I hit a large puddle. I reset the code, and it never came back. I would do that before you try anything else.

ok. so im officially confused. i didnt have time to reset the codes, so i ran it with the CEL for a week, just about.

looked at my dash today..NO MORE CEL!?

i think it has something to do with my valve getting screwed up when i run my tank below 3 bars. im going to try to not do that anymore and see if it keeps coming back. ill keep updating as this progresses..until i fix the problem in the end.

Any definitive answer on P1457 cause and resolution? It popped up for me today. I refueled yesterday morning, and gas cap seemed tight - but I smelled fuel vaoprs once since then. I assumed it was some other vehicle. Anyway, just wanted to add my anecdote. I've reseated the gas cap, and will monitor for further fuel vapor smells. Hopefully I don't have an actual hole somewhere - I did hit some highway debris Tuesday.

P1457 is usually always related to the few valves and connectors mounted by the evap canister. Drivers side rear. Bad connections, stuck solonoid, leaking lines.

Not to bring this back from the dead, but I've replaced everything Evap in the rear with known working units and I'm still throwing P1457 after about 50-100 miles of driving. I replaced most of the hoses as well, and the ones that I didn't have on hand, I visually inspected and they looked very good; rubber was more supple than the ones that they replaced. I had a friend put it on his expensive scanner and cycle the solenoid in the engine bay and also the one mounted on the canister and they are all clicking. (both clicked before too though on the one it replaced. The canister mounted solenoid sounds smoother/quieter when it turns on/off though. My previous one was VSSV3 (902). The new-to-me one is VSSV12 (036).

The P1457 happened after my battery died one day and I had to jump it. The battery was so dead that when the car started, as soon as the air pump turned on, the car turned off, rather abruptly. Could this be related at all? ECU issue?
