Default KW V3 setting with R-Compound tires

I have had the KW V3 for 2 years and been happy with the standard / recommended settings.

I am now running NT-01 R-compound tires and wondering if I should maxed out the bumps and rebounds on all four corners , experience it and back out from there?

I guess in general I am looking for inputs / experience / advise from someone who switches between R and street tires and how the bumps/rebounds are matched.

Thanks

I DO NOT like running the 'recommended settings' EVER, on street tires on the street or any other application.

Do a search, I have made tons of posts about ballpark setups and went into more detail.

For simple reference (even for your street tires) set them at ~

Compression F&R: 1-2 sweeps (from full stiff)
Rebound Front: 3-5 clicks (from full stiff)
Rebound Rear: 5-7 clicks (from full stiff)

I'm confident you will like the ride quality and handling much better.

Clarify your sweeps vs. clicks^^^

Sweep = 120* of one sweep in the adjustment window?

Click = 360* turn?

On your KW adjustments:

Make all adjustments from full hard then backing off for your settings.

The top adjustment is the rebound:
There are 6 detent clicks to one full 360* turn.
so a setting of 3 clicks is 1/2 of a full turn or 180*

The bottom adjustment is the compression:
Each sweep (insert the pin and turn it from one side to the other) is 1/4 turn. So insert the pin on one side turn it to the other side, do this 2 times and you have a setting of 2.

hope this helps

Thanks for replies.
I did not make myself clear ; I was asking whether adjustment should be made as you switch to use R-compound in general.
I get your inputs that it stays the same (street or R-comp).
Thanks.

It's a little more complex than that, for a street setting I leave them the same, for track, R-compounds generate more grip and will load the suspension quicker so technically should need more damping.

KW Manual Recommends:

Rebound:
Front - 9 clicks from full stiff
Rear - 15 clicks from full stiff

Compression/Bump:
0.75 turns or 3 sweeps

So, you recommend more rebound control ; which is slowing down the shocks.

I DO NOT like KW's "Recommended settings" even for the street. I put up baseline street recommendations up on many other threads.

Yes I recommend more rebound, and even a little more compression than what KW says.

Yes increasing rebound/compression is increasing the damping of the shocks. This damps/resists movement of the damper, slowing down body roll and increasing weight transfer.

Billj747,

I had an open track day yesterday and ran with your recommended settings. I really like it. The front/rear bounce are more coherent, the car settles quickly after transitions...it was a blast. Thanks.

The ride on regular street feels stiffer especially if you just had a big meal. Overall, with all the trade-off, I personally like your settings.
