Default Windshield Replacement

Anyone replaced the windshield on their S2K before? Mine is so pitted and beat up from its previous 10 years that it is almost impossible to see out of when driving in to the sun. I am thinking of having Ryan's Auto Glass (a local place) replace the windshield for me. I got a quote for %$299 + tax which seems really inexpensive!

I'm actually having mine replaced. Weird, haha. Literally just got off the phone with them, came on here and saw this. Mine got hit by some road debri, not even 5 minutes after I got off the highway to my destination in TN last October. Been waiting until it warmed up it to get it replaced. I'm just going with SafeLite through my insurance but I've stressed that I want the OEM windshield. Will also be standing over them like a hawk. There are too many horror stories with improper installation with windshields for me to just "trust" some random person.

Like yours, mine is rather pitted so I'm looking forward to the new clarity. I think it's from the rake our windshields are positioned and the height of the car I'm sure doesn't help.

I will ask if it is OEM. I know another member on here is getting his replaced too.

I originally opened a claim while I was still in TN to get it done while I was there. They had the aftermarket windshield in stock but I told them and stressed to them that I wanted the OEM. They called the dealer and said they could get it for the same price covered under my insurance deductible. Unfortunately they couldn't get it while I was going to be there so I put it off until now.

I've read some people were perfectly happy with the aftermarket windshields and most of them are OE quality, but I can be a bit picky with stuff like that so I won't settle for less than the OEM windshield. I love my S too much, haha.

From looking to get some other body work done that required a windshield being removed, it seems many (not all) body shops around have an actual glass shop or service come and do them.

Just something to keep in mind in case anyone is looking at a body shop.

I just talked to my insurance company a couple weeks ago about a windshield. $100 deductible for me. Mine is horribly pitted and looks really bad. 55k miles on it. Probably the original.
I'm just terrified of a hack job. Safelite up here is out of the question. There is a shop who comes to the dealership I work at that may get the job. Either that or I take it across town and drop it off. The only reason I might have it done here at work is so I could pull all my own plastics off and be able to watch the guy do the work. And of course, I could have them order OEM glass and weather stripping.

Hey guys I wouldnt mind making a trip as long as we can set up a day to do them all depending on the distance I might need to up $10-20 or so for gas and time. To answer some of the questions on here oem glass and the glass I use are the same quality the only difference is the logo on the glass. In America w/s have to be made to specifications to be able to withstand some much weight and a certain speed. Idk what those number are exactly, but it would have be able to withstand 20lbs at 45mph (this is a estimate) otherwise it would fail the USA standards that are set up. Most local shops would be fine I dont want to be that guy but I as well have heard horror stories of safelife and I wouldn't recommend anyone to use them if you have a choice. OEM will be a lot more money about 3x the amount I charge if not more I can get oem but will need to know before hand as they take about 2-3 day to get it.
