Default Advice for Audio Shop and New Head Unit

Hi All,

I am looking for some advice as to which head unit I should get and what audio shop I should use for the install. I am basically looking to get a head unit that will control a connected iPod and also be able to connect to my cell using Bluetooth.

Suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I've been shopping for the same thing - I'm leaning towards the Pioneer DEH-P7000BT. Built-in bluetooth and iPod controls, only $215-$240, depending where you buy from. I would not have an audio shop install, many many horror stories from botches to sell addresses to thieves. Swapping a head unit in this gear appears at first glance to be a cake walk.

I recommend Alpine with the Modifry DCI + harness.
It's an easy swap, except all the wire stuffing behind the unit.

I looked at alpine first, I like both alpine and pioneer and have had good luck with both brands in the past, but the alpines were way more $$ than the pioneer to do the same thing. I also am looking at the Modifry DCI, with the optional speed control sensor for the volume. I need to go out and scope some components to update the speakers. Probably Infinity or MB Quarts or something along that line. I love the Quarts in my pickup, but those are from many moons ago, before the company changed ownership.
