Auto-Cross Feb 13 at Phoenix International Raceway
Anybody interested in going to the auto-cross next Sunday? The Feb 13 local SCCA Auto-cross will be at Phoenix International Raceway, South of Avondale and the Gila River. The local auto-crosses are now so well attended that there are very few walk-up signups available. So if you want to run, you need to sign up on-line. http://www.azsolo2.com/ If you sign up please make sure you show up. No-shows at the auto-cross are a big no-no, because the no-shows wreak havoc with the scheduling of workers, the run group order, and the pre-built scoreboard.
The A run group starts at 0900, so if you're running in the morning, you need to arrive at the track around 0700 for car setup, tech inspection, and course-walking. I'll be running in the stock class for the MY 01 S2000 which is now AS. AS will be running in the C run group, so that means I'll be driving the course around 10:30 AM. I plan on getting to the track around 7:00 AM to set up the car and walk the course. If you catch an afternoon run group, then you don't have to show up till around 11:30 AM.
There's no shade at PIR, so come prepared with sunscreen, shade/hat, water/softdrinks. The SCCA usually gets a roach coach to show up for food and beverages, but don't count on it.
Here's a link to all the details, directions, and registration. http://www.azsolo2.com/
Here's directions to PIR:
I-10 (West of both I-17 and West Loop 101) take exit 131 (it used to be called 115th Avenue, it is still 115th Ave, but Avondale changed the name). Take Avondale Blvd South all the way to PIR, go to the gate 5. Here's a map of PIR with the auto-cross area highlighted:
.
The road racers use Gate 8, the 1st gate you come to. This is also the gate used to get to the infield for food, arm bands MUST be worn and shown for entry

Hey Rick maybe I'll take you for a "spin" again
I should be on the RA-1's I got from Gloffer so hopefully my car won't be a wickedly oversteering tail happy drift machine like it was last time.

Hey Gloffer, I can't make it out there this weekend, but it sure does sound like a good time.
I still owe you some hot laps (I haven't forgotten). I'll be at PIR with the Porsche club on Feb 26th and 27th, but I don't think I can bring passengers out because they are doing a drivers school. The first weekend in March (5th & 6th) I will be back at PIR with NASA (feel free to come out if you want).
Then, April 9-10th I am back at PIR with the BMW CCA.
