What's up guys! Have a question in regards to the DMV out there. Ok so my cars tags are due in FEB and I wanted to see what was needed in order to get my tags renewed at the actual DMV. It's been about 5 years since I have been to one. I have to do emissions too. Will I actually need a paper stating I need them or just walk into an emissions joint and get them done and then go to the DMV with the paper stating I have passed and that's all?

Just want to make sure I am not missing anything since I will be flying out there to get them done.

I just had the Emissions done on the NSX and went home got online and paid for my tag there. Very easy, quick, and trouble free! Once you get the emissions done it automatically uploads to the DMW database! I think this is the best way. If you didnt have to get the emissions done you could just pay for your tag online. Hope this helps!

 

go to emissions. Take the paper they sent in the mail, it has all the instructions. Show them where the obd plug is and pay the ~$30, then they will give you a passed form.

Go to the dmv with the passed form. Wait 2 hours for your number to be called. Then the person at the desk will walk you through everything and charge you an arm and a leg.

I have always gone to emissions with the form they sent in the mail, but I don't remember them ever checking it.

I just did this to register my S2k from Chicago to here. Go to emissions. this link will show you locations and current wait times(http://65.82.88.75/queuecam/stationview.exe). If you don't want to wait at the DMV you can go to AAA's Mesa or Paradise Valley branch office and they can do it for you too.

 

Only reason I ask is because that form will never reach me. It will be sent to my Arizona address which no longer forwards mail to me. So will I be ok with just walking into emissions and getting them done without the form? Sucks that I have to actually go to the DMV since I can't do it online due to the tags never reaching me. I guess I will have to bit the bullet and register my car in CA next year.
