A Great Tech Day...
I killed it. It's dead. My new DCI is RIP. Don't know if some wires came loose or the DIP pins are delicate or what...
Will wait until after the trip to work it out. At least the XM is fine. What tunes!!! I'm in love
If you hear CHIPS are chasing a yellow blur up the coast, that'll be me!

It's a tale of misery.
The latest DCI was never fully functional (at least with me at the helm)...
Don't know if it was the settings on back, me trying to reset and install it again, some other wires getting pulled loose in the process OR another bad DCI (maybe this year's versions don't like Alpines or something...), but -
At first the speed volume worked fine - up until I started resetting the switches to get the mute to work. Mute only worked once or twice then stopped and has never worked since I started messing around with the switches again. The dash volume control lagged and was extremely slow (one or two seconds for each notch up or down and 2 or 3 seconds to engage at all) and I never even got to the other dash controls (if they did work, it wasn't for long).
I have become extremely adroit at pulling off and replacing the lower dash cover but that's about all I've accomplished, I'm afraid.
Bummer is putting it mildly. Looks like I'm buying a lot more beer and pizza when I get back
Like I said, the XM part is WONDERFUL!!! (The tiny Terk antenna MAY be too small for the secret compartment but I get signal almost all the time. I just happen to live in the middle of North Mountain, Squaw/Piestewa Peak, etc, so who knows. Maybe some other member wants a smaller one if they're willing to swap all their wiring with mine?)
At any rate the scenery and sounds will be so good all the way up the coast, I doubt I'll miss the DCI for now. We can have a mini-Tech Day later - anyone got a garage with A/C?
The trunk's getting loaded now (wish I were too, but I'd pay for it on the road).
Thanks for yet more help now... and next month... and October...and in January.....
Later, AMOK
