helmet
I have been looking for a place to look at/try on racing helmets. I have been to several motorcycle shops, but they only carry DOT or Snell M2000 helmets - not rated for auto use. I am looking for a helmet rated SA2000 that I can try on before buying.
Yes I know they are available on the internet, but I want to try a helmet on before I buy.
Does anybody on the forum know where I can try on a racing helmet in the Phoenix area, preferebly the east valley.

John,
Per the azsolo2 site you only need a Snell 2000 rating. What is the difference in ratings for motorcycle/auto?
I also need to purchase a helmet before March 14.
Thanks,
Rick

Check the link below. There has been pretty substantial discussion in Racing and Competition
helmets
Since I am going to track the car, as well as auto-X, I want to go the Snell SA2000 rating route.

Got one. Found a place called Race Mart - they provide parts for sprint cars, and they had a pretty good selection of Bell and Simpson helmets - all rated Snell SA2000.
The woman behind the counter took about 30 minutes to fit the helmet, trying on a variety of helmets. They had prices similar to those I have seen on the Internet also. So I ended up with a Bell M2 (full-face - big eyepiece since I wear glasses).
For those interested:
Race Mart
2231 S. 7th Ave.
Phoenix
They are just south of I-17 on 7th Ave.
