Default Help!

So this morning I was late for work. I cranked, let it warm up for about 1 minute and pulled out. Immediately I got a check engine light. I drove to work anyway thinking it would reset like the last time this happened. I felt my engine cut out at speed for about a fraction of a mili-second. This happened about 4 or 5 times in a 30 min drive. When at idle, the rpms would not drop below 1500 and i swear to God I felt like I was in a supersonic fighter jet with this hissing that was far beyond the normal hiss accompanied by a squeal like a turbo spool sound which I attributed to little gremlins installing while I had slept the night before..right..I HAVE NO TURBO!!!! I coded for an idle control valve about 6 months ago but it cleared on its own. Got out of the car and heard the hiss even louder right around the drivers side headlight. Any ideas? Billman?

First things first, check your MAP sensor. Really though, pull the code and that should shed a little more light on the subject.

Ah, generally you need to replace it but I think that maybe some of the guys have had success with just cleaning it?

Honestly, I haven't done it before. Here is the write up though. If you can, I suggest contacting Ben @ Enjoy Racing he can probably get you the part. I'm sure he'll chime in here.

Ok cleaning is done. It was pretty dirty and seized. Now its clean and moving freely. I took it for a test drive. Check engine still on even after battery reset. When I accelerate, the sound goes away. The minute I let off the accelerator I her it spool up and hiss. Do I need to reset the MAP?

If the air pimp continues to run, even after the car is warm, something is wrong (obvious statement is obvious)

Wish I had an air pimp in my car.
