Default Hey Everyone

Hey just wanted to drop in and say hi. I'm going to be relocating to Phoenix in the next month for my job and just wanted to get acquainted with other S2000 owners in the area...

Also, I wanted to ask is there anything I should do to prepare my car or treat it differently than I would in Southern California because of the heat?

Thanks in advance and I look forward to meeting everyone

Treat your top and leather. I use vinylex and maguires leather conditioner.

Also, get a sock for your shift knob, or at least a hat to shade it.

Thanks.. I'm pretty fanatical about the leather inside the car, but was curious about the top..

Also, that's a great idea about the shift knob - probably would've burned my hand a few times before I thought of that. Thanks!

Hi blenderfrog,

I like your screen name. As already stated, keep your top, interior, and leather treated. I treat them every other week, but I have to park outside at work and I use the S as a daily driver. Some people here recommend a car cover but I personally am not one to deal with that every day. Always park in the shade by any means possible from June through September. Plan on having your car in the shade when you get back to it (i.e. park on the east side of a tree or wall when you're returning to the car in the afternoon) If you use a California car duster keep it in an air conditioned area and only use it in the morning during the summer. If you keep it in the hot garage or use it on a hot car it will leave waxy streaks everywhere. If you don't already, you will need to maintain your S on the extreme driving schedule due to the hot, dusty conditions.

What part of Phx are you moving to?

Kirk

Thanks for the good advice. I drive my S as a daily driver also, so that's pretty helpful. I do have a car cover, but like you said out here it was hard to use it when I should've although I'll probably try to make more of an effort during the summer months.

I'm moving to the south west portion of Phoenix to the South Mountain area, the 85040 area code, I'm still looking for a place, but will hopefully figure it out this weekend when I'm out there.

One other thing I was just thinking of that I wanted to ask: Are there any special laws or regulations in AZ that are pretty strict or area specific? Like in So. Cal we can get away with no front license plate and other things.. but we can't tint our windows in anyway..

Can I tint my windows in AZ?

AZ doesn't have front plates, thank God. I think you can tint your front windows up to 35% and whatever you want on the back. There's no lane-splitting for motorcycles here if you ride. Anything over 80 MPH is a criminal offense, that's only 5 over on rural interstates.
