Default MAF sensor

Hey all:

I am still running lean on the Lotus and I'm really starting to think its more than just the exhaust. I wanted to know if anyone knew how to check a MAF sensor to see if it is failing for failed, and if they can let me know how to do the check.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

totally different. you would need to check the values with an OBD2 scanner, and see what it is saying. It may be your o2 sensor reading rich, which would cause your ecu to lean itself out. You could also clean it which is easy, to see if that helps.

How do you know it is running lean?
Or what makes you think it is lean?

you just need a voltage meter to check if it is working properly in accordance with the service manual.

I constantly have P0171 for a check engine light. Also, I have detonation unless I'm running race fuel.

drive your car like grandma for 2 months, save the money you would have spent for pump and race gas and buy a wideband o2 sensor.

it will pay you back in the long run through issues like this and gasoline savings, and you can remove it if you sell the car.

this is the first thing anyone should buy for a car, even if it is a brand new 2011 economy smart car. no need to have an afr of 14.7, when it runs fine at 16.1

seriously though, you'll have to bust out the multimeter to know exactly what is going on.
