Default Motor Help

Anyone around today that can help me do a Valve Adjust?

Before I left for Hawaii I had a random cylinder misfire. After talking to a couple people they thought it was probably plugs or coilpacks.

I have changed plugs and the code came back.

Last night I changed plugs again with new coilpacks and the code came back right away and then my CEL started flashing so I was still at Brandons house so I left it there. Not sure what the exact code is now but I am assuming its the same.

After doing some reading I think I have 4 possible issues.

1. Something from the Brand New OEM parts I just put in are bad.
2. Bad injectors.
3. Valve's need to be adjusted.
4. Bent valve? Motor is FUBAR?

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Nik

The valves would have to be horribly out of adjustment to cause a misfire so bad you get the flashing CEL. I would say its a fuel issue, and since its a random misfire I would lean towards low fuel pressure.

Was there any events that happened in the months prior to cause engine damage? A money shift maybe? If the answer is no, here is the steps to take.

1. Do a compression check
2. Do a valve adjustment
3. Have the fuel pressure checked
4. Take injectors down to Rods carb and have them cleaned and a flow test done $60
5. At this point it gets into obscure things like checking output signals to the coil packs and fuel injectors, not your average issues.

It also cant be a bad coil pack because its a random misfire, if one cylinder is dead in the hole the code will come back "Misfire detected (cylinder 2)"

Compression Check Details

Cylinder 1 = 180
Cylinder 2 = 240
Cylinder 3 = 240
Cylinder 4 = 270

Cleaned the injectors. Did not bother with the Valve Adjustment yet.

Car is 2004 with 39k miles. I have no over rev'd, bought it used with 4k miles.

Not sure what to do next, Car is my daily driver so I need to get it working asap.

Open to ideas.

Thanks
Nik

I would give SOS a call. That compression is pretty low. Most valves tighten over time, so I dont know how much a valve adjust would do. How long has this been happening?

close but its a 5yr/60000 mile warranty. You can go raise a big stink about it and ask them to help you goodwill it. Sometimes they will do splits with the customers. where the customer pays labor and the dealer pays parts or something along those lines.
