Default people with 00-01 read please

Hey guys, tonight i put the top back up before i went to the mall and i noticed this time there was a really huge crease in the middle of the plastic rear window. I never got one this big before, it is like a big circle about 10 inches in diameter. I was thinking maybe because of the cold weather when i put it up, it made the window like this. I am not sure how to get rid of this, or will it eventually disappear with warmer weather? Some spots it looks like there are indents about the size of a quarter. Is there any way to fix this and make everything flat so i can actually see through the back window. Thanks!

Bad news. The creases are permenant. Do a search and see if you can find some of the countless threads on this subject.

Solutions for keeping further damage from happening are getting a Muz mat, and possibly getting the homemade window tensionier.

If your car is still in warranty, some people have had a one time free replacement by their dealership. If you do get a replacement, read here before you ever put your top down to see how to keep your window looking new.

if the creases are permanent, how about the indents? there are like a few spots where it indents in, if i push from inside it indents out. Any way to fix that? Iron with low heat maybe? I have no idea. =(

Check this product out:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=2445093588

He advertised it on this forum once and he sold them on ebay. He doesn't have any auctions going right now, but I was interested in getting one of these.

Those creases are permanent, but you probably won't notice them much after it gets warmer outside and starts heating up the plastic. Chances are, it's not the first time it's happened to your car since it's an 01 and the effects have just lessened over time.

well the guy i bought the car from bought it in march of 2002, and lived in chicago and never put the top down, only a few times. Also only had 4900 miles when i got it, so I dunno. I'm not worried too much about the long crease in the middle, but more worried about the 4 spots where it indents in, that is bugging me.

Park the car in the AZ sun in the summer and everything melts back into place...trust me.

It needs heat to loosen the material and then shade to tighten up correctly. Finish up with the cleaner and polish.

The Muz mat is not as big of a deal for the crease as having a towel or rod tossed in when you put the top down, that keeps the crease from happening.

It's amazing what helpful information comes up when doing a search for 'plastic window'! This forum is an incredible wealth of information - when used - isn't it???
