Really depends, there are still affordable areas outside of Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, no need to live there. There are a lot of nice areas, in Chandler, Mesa, and Gilbert (16th nicest place to live in America according to Money Magazine) that are affordable. BTW, I think Banner's newest hospital is going to be Gateway, which is in Gilbert.
