Official information on the more hardcore S2000 will be scarce until its unveiling on April 4. All Honda has said about it so far is that it's "club racer-inspired," "aggressively tuned," and has been "engineered around the expectations and needs of Honda performance enthusiasts."
The new S2000 CR is going on sale in the U.S. this autumn.
Hey, the way L8BRKR, RFEVER, and myself think about it... we've already got our cars in CR condition - minus the roll-cage and/or Hard top.
What I'm stoked about is the possibility of seeing CR S2000s in either the GT or STreet Tuner race series on the Speed Channel! Right now, I see NO S2000s on televised broadcasts on any racing series and I'm sure it has to do with it being a convertible.
Yep, I'm anxious to see what Honda rolls out in two days.
Any "bets" on what config it will be?
Me, I'm willing to bet you a beverage that it will have the following:
1. NO air conditioning.
2. NO rag top. A hard top only - or coupe.
3. No sound insulation in the doors or underside.
4. A unique color and badging.
5. Unique wheels.
6. Lowered and specialized suspension.
7. Specialized exhaust to dump the hugified final cans we currently run with stock.
... that shoud about do it.
Sure hope it has at least what I listed.
What would be over the top is if it had a rear diffuser, front downforce, a wing, and larger brakes. The whipped cream would be a V-6!
