I think it will be a cosmetic change only.
Correct me if I'm wrong but we don't get cars in the US without the A/C option and I doubt they'll do that because it would automatically kill their whole mainstream west coast market.
Remember, this car has to have gone through all the federal regulations and safety testing and still be able to make enough money to give Honda a profit margin.
We went through this discussion with some higher ups at Honda back when we begged them for the RSX Type-R to come here. They said the market was so niche that although it would make a few very happy, it would not make any sense for Honda to certify it for America.

If they want to call it a "Club Racer" it had better have a roll bar that will meet SCCA regulations, no AC, hardtop, stripped down interior/trunk, and a lightweight exhaust. If they aren't going to go all out why not just call it a Type-R and sell millions
Maybe they will build in an electrical problem by using GM ignitions or Volkswagon convenience controllers and the CR will mean Crispy Rice.
Or they will put some 22 inch wheels on it and this will happen:

Nah. Don't lose faith in the Honda Force.
If Honda is truly coming out with a CR S, then they will have been watching what we've done to our stock Ss to make them competitive and make a machine accordingly.
If I were Honda, I'd be thinking about the fact that a Miata RX6 just recently beat a Porsche GT in the latest GT series race. I know that Honda could compete! The force has to be adjusted here!

Eff that, homey! If I were to make a track monster, I'd totally eliminate the A/C, or minize it all together.
Dude, AZ is HOT. Why the hell do we live here? When I drove through here in 1986 to go to a job in Texas, I was thinking... WHO THE HELL would live in the Sanoran Desert! Not Me!
No AC on the new CR S.

That being said, they put the first ever (that I'm aware of) factory turbo into the Acura MDX. Honda was always NA fo' LIFE... but maybe they are seeing some FI advantages and willing to exploit their engineering capabilities.
I have always pictured a 6 cyl under that hood. There's just too much room NOT too. Of course that would jack up the 50/50 balance unless they tripled the weight of the stock exhaust. Aftermarket cat-back installation will now require an engine lift for OEM removal ...
Sadly I suspect we will end up seeing a Type-R config without much substantial change.
