Steering Question - Any help is appreciated
I recently posted a problem or imperfection if you will regarding the way my car's steering would return to center from left better than from right.
I had the car at a few different dealers, not Earnhardt yet because they are so far away from where I live, and then I also Took it over to Network Alignment.
My situation is this.
I was noticing that the steering wheel does not seem to return perfectly to center when steering right. But when steering left it does retrun. Or rather it wants to come back to center better from the left, like there is more force returning it to center. When I say its off, its by a few degrees. The wheel comes back just not the same on both sides.
I have taken crowned roads into consideration and the same happens on flat roads and even roads sloping left.
1) The first dealership Superstition Springs (Where I bought it) said the car is fine after test driving, but didnt even put the car on the rack.
2) The second one Tempe Honda, checked the alignment and adjusted caster based on my complaint. Stil the steering force is not even on both sides.
3) Honda cars of mesa, let me test drive their car. I did not notice that their car was doing quite the same thing as mine. They kept it for a whole day afterward and said they could find nothing wrong and everything was in specifications.
4) Network alignment - I decided to take it to a third party. They said the alignment settings were fine and they did not notice any steering issues.
5) I have a friend who use to race and build cars and he did notice what I was experiencing but said it may be the characterisitic of the car and as he indicated "Things can be within a factory specification range" and while I notice something like that I would get no sympathy from the dealer.
So I would like to ask other owners, do you notice that returning the steering wheel from left to center is better than from right to center ? Is this a normal characteristic ?
I have replaced the front tires, I have had all the tires checked numerous times for balance and pressure and wear. No problems there.
At this point it is eating me to find out what would be the reason ?
On the technical forums some said I may want to reset the torque sensor neutral position.
Is there a place in town maybe a tuner place that would specialize or know in detail all the characteristics of the car and maybe explain better what I am experiencing.
I really really appreciate any feedback.

Let me take your car on the track and I'll tell you what it is.

Does anyone know any non-dealer shops that specialize in our cars or at least the suspension/steering area and could probably give a near if not pinpoint prognosis of what i am experiencing in the steering ?
Thanks,.
First take it to Earnhardt's and have Cesar take a look at it. Worth the drive. He has more hours on our car then anyone in the Valley. Best non-dealer would be SOS in Tempe. Don't know for sure if they have to charge you some money but I know Chris will take care of you.

However is this "SOS" an acronym or the whole name of the business ?
Thanks,

I've never heard of this issue. If Cesar says it's ok, that's pretty much it.
Maybe your steering rack is just off but still within spec. You can replace it if you have that much of an issue with it.

Thanks for the info on SOS I may stop by there.

SoS= Scienece Of Speed.
He too picked up quickly on what I am experiencing and said it is not alignement but in the steering for sure. Probably something with the Steering box.
He said the whole steering system is relatively new and I would be best off contacting Corporate in California to discuss what can be done. It is slight enough that I might have fight on my hands because he indicated that it might not be bad enough to warranty a replacement.
Time to get corporate involved this outta be fun........
