Welding?
All,
Earlier this year, I tried the Midas Touch...and it didn't work.
I had the local Midas shop chop my exhaust at the harmonic tuner tube and attach a flange so that I could "easily" attach a street muffler system and remove for the track blow-by. Well... It didn't work out as planned.
The Midas shop added a flange on both ends of the cut pipe to where there is an extra inch now - which pushes out the connected exhaust and makes one side stick out more than the other when looking from the rear bumper.
I want to cut the flanges and re-mate the original exhaust tubing because now, I have a separate exhaust that I use for the track from the cat back.
What I want to do is cut off the flanges from my original exhaust and mate them up and weld them so that the fit is like original.
Anyone here know how to weld?
Secondly... is welding that difficult to learn? I have seen a few welding setups for sale at my local auto store and have considered purchasing the electric welding unit just so I can do it myself.
So... any welders here that could help with my repair?
Also, if you know how to weld, could you teach me how to weld so that I can do it myself on later projects?
Thanks,
CB

AFAIK Brett "MetalMan" is the definitive place to get your custom welding done. I've watched him work and talk about the different types of materials, gases and chemicals involved and it was rocket science to me. It takes knowledge of chemistry, experience, and major machinery to do this right so I think it should be left to the pros.
I've had amateurs weld things for me before and there is a HUGE difference.
