Default Exhaust bypass

What do you guys think of this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cgi/eBay...&item=593666066

Will it work on our cars? Is it worth getting or is it all a scam? Thanks

I bet the local muffler shop could rig something for less money. Oh, I forgot, you'd have to take this part to the local muffler shop so they can chop and weld it into your exhaust system.

No really. This wouldn't work, the exhaust bypass (dump tube) would have to be installed after the catalytic converter. Otherwise the cat sensor would crap a platinum brick! You wouldn't see 10-14 horsepower, you'd might lose five times that though.

A better idea would be taking off the exhaust from the cat back, but no one has dyno'd this yet. Nor have I seen any 1/4 mile times for an s2000 without an exhaust. I can't say if there is a real world performance difference. Even if you don't lose any power, you would shave 50lbs off of your curb weight, and that is a serious weight savings.

I think older V8 Hotrods use to do this back in the day. They would have a handle that looks like an e-brake that would move the exhaust up or down so it would run open header, or with the exhaust on. I can't see our cars getting that much horsepower, and like JERRYPETERSON said I think our cars would lose 5hp just by how sensitive they are.
