Where does everyone here work?
I started in automotive but got tired of having to work my ass off to make anything and sweating in shops in the summer. I joined the National Guard 6 years ago and traversed quickly into a decent paying full-time federal technician job working on Apache helicopters. If you are under 35 and good with mechanical/electrical things, I strongly suggest something like this, as the federal technician program we have is hurting for people, surprisingly, for a job that starts at over $40k... Yes, you might spend a year in Afghanistan at some point (safely inside a hangar,) but well worth it for the money and benefits.
I'm a Customs Agent down in Nogales. Dept. of HOmeland Security is currently hiring. Lots of overtime, lots of interesting stories. You can easily hit 50k your first year working liberal amounts of OT. Every year your pay goes higher

I'm sick of my desk job and would love to do something useful.
Seriously,

I work at ON Semiconductor as an applications engineer intern for the analog division. Most of what I do is marketing type work, identifying new product opportunities and comparing existing products with competitors to make sure we stay competitive. It's pretty dry, but you gotta start somewhere and the pay is nice.
