I do, uh, doctor things.

I spend your tax monies.

Your tax monies pay my salary, my benefits, and my PAID DAYS OFF.

Of which I get 22 a year!

Without "us" Optics nerds, you'd still be doing the internet thing at 9600 Baud. On a Unix terminal.

Well now, that isn't entirely true......Yes Dwdm is the way of the future but fiber-optic cable has been around for quite some time, as well as lasers. Now if you guys invented all the different types of fiber and all of the enhancements to fiber....I applaud you.

Didn't nasa invent fiberoptic cable?

I am a Cisco network guy.

Corning Glass researchers Robert Maurer, Donald Keck and Peter Schultz invented fiber optic wire or "Optical Waveguide Fibers" (patent #3,711,262) in 1970.

Lasers were deemed the greatest solution w/o a problem (to solve) when they were invented. Go figure.

DWDM isn't exactly the future anymore, but that is debatable. Neither is TDM (time division multiplexing). How about STCDM (space-time-continuum) ?!?! You can't defy physics but you can trick it momentarily or engineer it to your needs - that is what the best in the field know and are good at.

If you want to create a new thread about this type of technology in this field, I'll do my best to answer questions and quell common myths. Otherwise, this response seems to smell more off-topic than a typical "I have to poop" response by Lee.
