Windshield Replacment
Ok,
I am getting sick of calling safelite and getting my windshield filled with their glue and the pitts are getting out of control.
Does anyone know a way to get insurance to cover the OEM Honda glass?
I know usually all they will cover is the the cheap stuff...

I wonder the same thing s2kjer... My windshield is getting bad but I'd rather have this pitted oem than some cheap ass replacement. I have a feeling that the insurance pays the glass guys OEM replacement price and they turn around and put in crap.. that is why they can afford to give you 10 free steaks or I even heard on a recent commercial that they give you money.. lol, How else could they afford to do that? You should call your insurance company and ask them... then let us know what they say.
I called Safelite and they say they use their brand "like OEM" and true OEM that they get from the dealer.
Approval on what they will install is based on how stingy your insurance company is.
I will find out tomorrow if Ameriprise "Costco insurance" will foot the bill for the good stuff.

I also need to have my windshield replaced. Have a large chip right in my line of sight. I picked up a card from Santan Honda the last time that I was there for a guy they use. Not sure if he uses OEM glass or not but that is what I am looking for when mine is finally replaced. Will post the guy's number a bit later.
BTW, you may want to look into paying the replacement yourself and not going through insurance. They can raise your premiums and you have to disclose the claim when you purchase new automobile insurance.

I always get Honda glass. The stipulation with that is you don't get the warranty on it as if you had it installed at a dealer, but I always insist on factory glass for the S. I got cheaper glass on one of my other cars, and I could see waves in the glass under certain lighting conditions.
