So I am selling my car to a guy in Louisiana and he told me that as a requirement when you buy a car from out of state, he will need a copy of my driver's license so that he can pay the taxes on the actual selling price of the car.

I am very reluctant to give out that info, just doesn't seem right, I mean do you really need my license when you have a bill of sale and the title in hand. If anyone can help I would apprecaite it.

I hooked this guy up with a great price on my Bronco cause he told me he lost most of his stuff in the storm, I figured it could be another way I could help even if it touches only the lives of one family. I just want to make sure he isn't scaming.

Oh yeah, I live in NJ and have never heard of needing a license from the previous owner.

 

I wouldn't trust that. That's some vital information to give out. Your best bet is to research the laws or call whatever agency in LA that handles such things.
