very nice,

phil painted his calipers black. took longer to dry than expected (cold weather). Also, he did not grind them down. the g2 is thick enough to cover and fill the casting marks
that about sums it up... took me about 2 hours total to paint (i could have put on another coat easily, but knew i'd be pressed for drying time), and it went fairly well. i did not grind as the wheels hide a lot more than the OEM wheel... and i anticipated the black doesn't show as much detail on the caliper. i'm still debating on whether to order some stickers from decalgirl.

the temps really did hurt the dry time (knew it was a risk) and they were slightly tacky when i finally left. (thanks again Ken for letting me loiter!) on the trip home, i probably used my brakes less than 10 times and tried to always be slowing from like 30 mph down. by the time i pulled in at the house, they were dry and not tacky -- however, it looks like they have picked up a variety of minor trash (rust specks, dust specks, road grime, etc.) on the trip. you'd never notice unless you really looked. i'll try to hit them w/ a claybar later on after cleaning them again, and i highly suspect they will come completely clean.

all in all, i'm very pleased, i put on 3 thick layers, went most of the way back on the calipers, and you really cannot discern any casting marks at all. as Mark commented, they really do almost look powder coated. as soon as i have a chance, i'll take some pics. of course, i've got over a weeks driving on them now, so they will be dirtier i'm sure (along w/ the car. )

btw -- stereo install looks great. what Alpine head is that? is that the 9835? i didn't realize it had so much amber!

yes, you are correct, sir. it's the 9835, and i have it on amber to match the rest on the dash. i wanted to wait for the 2k5 models, but i was getting too impatient. with 512 different shades, it's crazy! i have it on demo mode in my screensaver so it changes colors while i'm driving. very cool... maybe down the road, i may change the lights on the dash, but the price for that mod is outrageous! i'm still trying to figure out how to actually set this radio up. it's confusing and very detailed, but i got most of it on an i-personalize cd, i think. hey, it works and sounds pretty good to me! hehe...

i'm glad you're finally done with that mod, phil. i know you've been waiting for quite some time to do it. i'm pretty sure they look good, and you can't go wrong with black! just post up some pics of them after you detail your car. just one question, did you use clear coat on them after? i'm doing mine if the weather's right in the morning, and i'll definitely need high temp clearcoat if i use the decals. any brands ya'll recommend?

might check high temp sprays for items like barbeque pits.
of course, I doubt they have a clear coat.

i went to lowe's this morning to find some high temp clear coat, but since they didn't have any, i've ended up getting it at autozone. i've started at 2 in the afternoon, and i've just finished the whole g2 kit with 4 red coats. to my surprise, they look really good! i'm really impressed with the results so far, and i'm waiting for it to dry at the moment for the next 2-3 hrs so that i may put the decals on. the reason why it took so long is that i had to jack it up twice (first with the oem jack since it's low) and then masking around the calipers. so yeah, it may be on jackstands all night after i clear coat them. i really wanted to put my new rotors on, but i'll wait until i need to change out my brakepads. i'll post some pics tomorrow to show my results. what a difference!!!

didn't clearcoat actually... since i didn't put stickers on, there was no need really. the base G2 was VERY shiney.

i'll also post pics even if i don't get her all detailed up. i've been pretty busy actually... the Odyssey's system went in this weekend... i'll post a thread on it.

glad to hear yours came out good. tell me how the stickers go...

yes, i have to agree that they're already very glossy! luckily, i sprayed the clear over the rear caliper as a test, and it made the red turn pink. i ended up just painting that rear caliper over, so all in all, i left them all un-clearcoated with just the decals in the front. they came out better then what i expected, and it made a huge difference in looks! who needs a bbk kit now? i'll post pics later...

the oddessey looks awesome! sorry to hear about your finger, hope it heals up soon.
