Thanks guys. Will look a for a "stud finder" and mount it properly.
That's not a bad idea for a cheap flushed look Austblue. Shame that it will actually go into the shower in the next room.
I've got a stud finder at home if you want to borrow it..

depends on the LCD tv. LCD's are considerably lighter then plasma's. I picked up a 32 inch samsung and it weighed maybe 5 kilos. You might get away with just drilling in a screw anywhere depending on your walls, the weight of the LCD and how many screws the weight can be distributed over.

Stud finder can be bought from bunnings for like 20-30 bucks. You pass it over the wall and it beeps/ little red light turns on when it hits a beam of wood. You pass it over the wall and you can see where the stud starts and finishes and mark them out. You can then get a cordless drill/screwdriver and screw in a self tapping wood screw. hang the LCD off that. hanging it up is ez. With the wires n stuff, you can paint the wires the same colour as the wall so it blends in a bit better, otherwise your going to need to run them through the wall or drop em through the wall cavity from the ceiling. Or you could always get a small wallside table and pop the tv on that.....

The cheaper LCD tv's are not bad, as you said it depends on your application. 26 inch for $400 sounds like an absolute steal. I think with that size though you will be regretting not going bigger later on. I got a 42 inch plasma in my room, and i'm kicking myself that i didn't shell out extra $$$ for a 50 inch.

in digital tuner for around $400 on ebay? It's really only for the missus when I have to kick her upstairs when she wants to watch Brothers & Sisters and similar crap, so doesn't have to be top notch picture quality.
I am not a fan of a TV in the bedroom so I would suggest spending the money on a HD based tuner. They would run you about the same for the cheaper ones and you get rid of the VCR. The missus can watch her stuff whenever you are not around and visa versa. That is what we do at our house and it works very well.

If you get one with a double tuner you can record two programs at the same time whilst watching a pre recorded one. You can also watch recorded programs on the computer if you have the right setup.

Thanks for the advice guys and offer DB. The Conia TV went off for like $500+ so no thanks. Wouldn't pay more than $400 for it. Seems like Kogan might be an OK brand according to DTV. If a stud finder is only like $20-30 then I might as well buy one and do some drilling.

Cashout I know what you mean. I suggested that to her as well as being able to DL the shows she watches anyway. "It's not the same" she says. For some reason, watching it "live" once a week with ad breaks makes it much better. $#@%@^@!!!%$ Syntax Error. It just doesn't compute with my rational male brain.

It's not my TV time that she is encroaching on, I rarely watch TV. It's my xbox time. I've barely touched Forza 2 the past few days.
