I've been looking around and most of the nice popular places like maldives and bora bora are $1k plus per night for a couple and I don't feel right blowing that kind of money just to sit around for a week in the same spot as everyone else.
Does anyone have any secrets on different honeymoon ideas? We really want a mixture of fun, relaxing, pretty and reasonably priced. I suppose I could spend about 10k on the 2 weeks but that'd have to include flights I think.
We like bush/cave walks scuba/snorkelling sort of stuff and if we can do a fly-by via somewhere to shop it'll get me off the hook if I get to go fishing for the day because she wont come
Anyone been to Borneo?
Cheers

Vietnam or Thailand (but there's a bit of political unrest there at the moment). They have plenty of beach resorts, there's the food, culture, shopping, similar climate to Bora Bora and the Maldives and you will live like a king on 5k for 2 weeks. Flights are under $1k pp from memory.

we are going to Thailand for ours .
Going to Koh Samui and then Bangkok . Going by your criteria , Thailand has everything you want in spades and as Blackie mentioned, you can spend up big for little more than $5k for 2 weeks.
The people are extremely friendly and the beaches are some of the best in the world.
got a package for $5200 .

We spent 3 weeks going through vietnam cambodia and thailand this year and absolutely loved it
Still considering Koh samui or phuket but the current state of affairs had me looking elsewhere. I think the 3 weeks we spent there would've cost us about 6k tops and we stayed in some nice spots.
I don't mind the cold for snowboarding but that's all and alicia isn't much of a snowboarder. My brother went to Japan snowboarding for his honeymoon but they're both pretty keen for that sort of thing.

You could hit up Malaysia???
Shop till you go crazy in KL for a day or 2, visit Batu Caves, then head off to one of their more remote eastern islands like Tiomann.
10k will keep you going for weeks there.
Could also consider New Caledonia....

yeah im off to thailand in 2 weeks!! ... excited, but the situation there right now is kinda ruining the vibe .. hopefully everything will be fine.
i paid just under 4k, which includes all airfares and transfers for 3 weeks .. going to bagkok, koh samui, phuket, phi phi island.. and staying is 4 star places.
anyway .. i suggest the Philippines .. you can do all your shopping at manila and fly down to boracay or palawan for the white sandy beaches and outdoor activites.
i think an african safari would be awesome, but heard they can get pretty expensive.
