Default I need a Wireless access point

Hey guys I've just moved in to a house with a LAN set up and wanted to make it wireless for my laptop and possibly for my xbox. Can anyone suggest a cheap access point with a link if possible? It seems most of them are $$$ and way overkill for what I need.

BTW its a 2 storey brick house and not big enough to worry about range.

Also the reason I mentioned the xbox is I read briefly that you can use non-oem wireless client receivers on them does anyone know is that the way to go or just get the OEM wireless receiver?

Cheers.

Don't know about the Xbox but have some experience with access points.

Firstly, look for one that is just an access point. I picked up a Belkin Range Extender for $12. It's meant to be a range extender but can be configured in AP mode. It's a 802.11g but unless your internet connection is incredibly fast there's not much point in going to N.

Not a fan of Netgear. Have had two of their wifi routers and both have died on me.

I'd recommend going with the Microsoft 360 Wireless adapter for your xbox360. It's the simplest to set up, will work immediately, and will continue to work without any hassle.

Just be wary of wireless and lag. If you game with your 360 over live, then you might notice issues. But if you're using it to stream divx's and avi's from your PC over the air then it should work no problems.
