Yep, although that really defeats the purpose.

I often forget it's a phone and get a surprise when it rings.

Yes true, I think i should compile a list of question for you to answer... instead of posting one by one, seeing you are the guru of Iphone

Does the GPS Still work with Prepaid?
How much does the 50$ prepaid card bandwidth do you think it will provide me like just for googling information for like 3-4minutes.
What features would I miss out that is really important?
What is Talk time and Idle time on the phone?

1) Technically the GPS will work but the nav application relies on data for the maps so it won't be much good.

2) No idea. Depends on your card.

3) Nav, browser, app store (but not really an issue because most apps use data anyway).

4) Probably best to check the Apple site for this question.

I'm pretty sure there's no such thing as pre-paid data in Australia yet. Definitely not with Vodafone anyways.

Getting the iPhone without data is like getting an S2000 and never revving over 6k rpm. Sure it looks nice and the lay-deez (or geeks in this case) will love you but you won't get what the fuss is about.

Some friends of mine mucked around with my iPhone and said it's too big and if it were smaller it would be good. Or that the touchscreen is too fiddly, etc. They just don't get it and I couldn't be stuffed explaining it to them.

By the way, I've started exploring the "podcasts" option and I'm now subscribed to Autocar and other car reviews and news (all in video) to update automatically whenever a new episode is available (usually every couple of days). And it's all so easy to do.

I subscribe to VODCar but it's pretty lame. I'll check out AutoCar.

Autocar is pretty good. Well worth the subscription (it's free anyway).
Software update 2.0.1 is available as well. Apparently fixes up some bugs and speeds up certain processes like contacts list and sms typing. No new features though.

re: car vodcasts

autocar is good but does not get updated often (last update in may)

vodcars is usually pretty good - the latest one is an exotics cruise - sounded awesome!

a few other vodcasts to check out include:
+ fast lane daily - 4min of news/updates every day
+ garage419 - updated bi-weekly - more of a US slant and 50% of the vodcasts are just boring talking
+ bikini driving school - skanks in swimsuits driving exotcs like porsche GT3, CLK63 AMG Black etc... they get nice and wet washing the car afterwards

all free btw
