It will be interesting to see what the new iPhone price is going to do to the price of the new HTC Touch Diamond which is about to release. The HTC is thinner, lighter and includes WiFi as well.

Oh yeah! You're right, missed that in the tech spec when I scanned it. Cool.

So it is a real competitor to he HTC, they have to get the HTC price down.

I just had a look at the HTC Touch Diamond. Just looks like an updated version of the HTC Home app for Windows Mobile that I run on my Dopod 838pro.

yep SDK is free... but how many developers will post for free when they can get a cut of the $2.29 that they may charge per download of app?

not a bad thing, you can expect better quality games and stuff --> graphics as good as nintendo DS etc.

HTC - once you use an iPhone, windows mobile seems very old and slow.

interesting read..

reason behind the reduced pricing is for apple to increase overall marketshare in oz.

mistake they made is the US was to sell the device for too high a premium which reduced the take up, a source i know within the industry say its a case of not replicating here in oz as they did in the US.. as if 6 million units in 12 months wasnt enough!

objective for apple is to double its market share by reducing the prices by half and selling double the units.

great strategy, as soon as pricing comes at hand i'll let everyone know and dont be suprised if they're sub $500 outright.

there is even talks about just selling the phones with pre paid sims with no contracts, if thats the case they will be fully subsidised on 24 month terms.

stay tuned!
