Default Vent: Stupid Audi's

Today I was out and about in my old man's Audi TT that we bought recently. I was turning off epping road and the car shuts down. No steering!!! Turns out the car ran out fuel.

But I am not that stupid to still drive it if the fuel guage dropped to the end. There is a tiny red section on the fuel guage that indicates low fuel. The needle was JUST above that red section so I assumed I was good until I reach the BP 5 mins away.

To make it worse I had to get out and push the heap of shit with people honking me!!!!!

This would never had happened if I was in the S2K, Honda's seem to have a large reserve tank!!!!

Sorry, just had to vent

So just to clarify, the thing ran out of fuel before it was even indicating "low fuel"? That would be annoying; it's quite misleading.

Yea. The electronic stuff on it is super annoying. The low fuel light comes on when there is still 3/8 fuel still in the tank. It ran out of fuel just before it had tocuhed the red indicator line!!!! Note that the red indicator line does not mean absolutly no fuel. It is actually an indication for the last 1/8th of fuel left.

Anyone else have an Audi??

So basically the low fuel light came on, you ignored it, and then ended up looking like a dick?

Did u not read? The light comes on when there is still 3/8 fuel left as indicated on the fuel guage. The car ran dry when there was 1/8 indicated on the fuel guage. It moved from 3/8 to 1/8 in a very short distance as I was on my way to the petrol station.

Researched a bit and seems like the cluster is known to have problems. Brining it into dealer tommorrow and see if they will replace the cluster under warranty.

What did the distance to empty indicator show?

I've driven a SAAB and BMW to empty and found that the distance to empty went to zero just before the car coughed to a stop.

Instances were that I towing in the country and had spare fuel cans on board as I knew I would be lucky to make it to the next town.

Tell you the truth I didn't bother to look as the fuel guage showed a good 1/8th of a tank left in it and I ran to the petrol station straight after pushing the car to the side of the road. I for sure will keep my eye on that distance to empty reading from now on .

I probably should drive the S2K more, it only has 870km's on it since I picked it up on the 16th of Jan . Not trusting that damm TT anymore

What, 870km in 7 weeks.

I almost did that many KM the night I picked up my last car (X5). I was going to hookup a 30ft trailer to it the next day and drive to Phillip Island so I needed to run it in.

The dealer was surprised when they called next day to check everything was OK. I told them the car was fine but they handnt even put in enought fuel in to get me home. I fessed up about the long way home after they apologised and started blamestorming the delivery dept.

Get that S2K run in, or the forum lurkers will exercise a mercy kidnapping.

Chris.

Chris.
. I have a daily driver that I drive to work in every weekday. Since my old man is overseas on a trip I have officially taken over his TT for weekends until he gets back , hence why the S2K has so little km's on it.

Just dropped the TT back to the dealer and see what they have to say about it. In the meantime I have a POS Toyota Corolla courtesy car to roll around in for the next couple days until they fix the issue.

Chris, do you still have a S2K?
