Did u not read? The light comes on when there is still 3/8 fuel left as indicated on the fuel guage. The car ran dry when there was 1/8 indicated on the fuel guage. It moved from 3/8 to 1/8 in a very short distance as I was on my way to the petrol station.

Researched a bit and seems like the cluster is known to have problems. Brining it into dealer tommorrow and see if they will replace the cluster under warranty.
Yes I read the whole thing, however the important point is that the fuel light came on while it was indicating 3/8th left.

If that happened to me I would assume one of three things. The fuel gauge is indicating incorrectly, the fuel low warning is indicating incorrectly or the manufacturer has deliberately set the warning to come on at a stupid threshold. The latter is highly unlikely, leaving two realistic options.

You ignored the warning, believing the gauge and ended up pushing the car when you should have been thinking "why is the fuel low warning showing when there is 3/8th of a tank left"?

Sheesh Joe, don't you think you are being a little harsh?

The guy had some misfortune and shared it with us. You're just taking the opportunity to have a kick.

And not questioning the validity of your logic but it's real easy to judge this after the fact.

Fuel gauge aside, serves you right for driving a TT in the first place when you have an S at your disposal!!!

The Audi is in with the dealer getting the issue resolved and I have a crappy Corolla as a courtesy car. Handles worse than my previous Jazz

Fair enough assumptions but this is the first weekend I have spent with the TT and never really noticed this issue before hand. I thought I would definately make it to the petrol station with 3/8 of a tank left.

The S is going to get more sunlight and the TT stays in the garage for weekends from now on (This gif looks cool BTW)

Na, it's a 2005 model and not a quattro. My old man is not that into cars and he just wanted a decent weekend sports car (not that I agree it's much of a sports car ). He initially wanted a Porka Boxter and I just said it aint worth the $$ for that kind of performance and maintenance will definately be more than an Audi.

It is a 2005 registered, black, auto 6Spd, 135KW FWD and has 12.5K km's on it. Took me a while to find this particular one with such low km's on it. Did a full detail on it and took me 6 hours+ using a random orbital polisher I got from the states (My arms were about to fall off at the ends cause the thing is so heavy).

Will post up some pics when I get it back from the dealer.
