thanks for the help guys, has been most useful. so swap cv cups - is that from passenger side to drivers side and vice versa?

and yeah gotta watch out for those aftermarket spark plugs, many a systemic issue can be caused by them lol 'but the click is at the rear of the car??' - yes sir that is correct, the issue is the spark plugs. thank you come again! lol

FYI I had to machine the shaft 1mm for the roller bearing + cclip to fit with the Ballade Sports cv joints.

No pics sorry, I haven't made them aware of the issue yet but I will.

I had previously installed new OEM ones but then found that the passenger side was cracked (unlucky) so replaced it with a Ballade one. The OEM ones had new rollers and were a perfect fit, used a vernier scale to measure both rollers and they were exactly 1mm off.

Ok, but I'm a little confused. Don't the Ballade CVs come as a cup, tripod and roller bearings?

So the procedure would be to remove the old cup and tripod/bearing assembly, replace with Ballade tripod/bearings and fit cup?

What part needed to be machined?

Edited this pic I found to explain, hopefully this makes more sense.

Had to machine the shaft which the tripod roller bearing sits on, as it would be near impossible to machine the actual tripod roller bearing as it's 1 unit.

That pic is actually from another thread where the poster used Ballade CV Joints, seeing as it fits there I can only assume I was unlucky.

Ahh got ya. Sounds like a pain in the ass. Be sure to let Ballade know and save others the trouble.

Well i got my axle nuts tightened. No more click ;-)

unfortunately there is still a slight vibration in the upper rev range from the rear passenger side. Its better since getting the axle nuts tightened but still there. Sounds like i'm down for some new CV's. I might add in the driveshaft spacers too while i'm at it.

Thanks guys ;-)
