Default My Career Starts Here

Hi all,

Just coming to spread some good news Say Hello to your new Honda Service Administrator

After I finished school, my parents kept nagging me to find a casual job for the holidays so I would stop living off them. The local paper was not a great deal of help at all so I decided to consult online ads instead. I applied for plenty of jobs, I just never heard back from ANY of them.

Because my mind is always in some state of trance; I typed in "Honda" as a keyword, which brought up a job ad that required someone to work full time at a Honda Service Centre. To my surprise it was at my local Honda dealer in Ringwood. I just completed 13 years of education and wanted to move onto Uni next year, so a full time job wasn't apparent at all.

I let the ad sit there for a few days but for some reason, something told me to give it a go. After showing the ad to my parents, they suggested I go for it, afterall I do have a stake in Honda and wish to work for them in the future. Because I have never applied for a job in my life where I got a call back, I thought this would be like any other. I printed off my resume and sent it not expecting a response.

I was wrong. A few days later I received a phone call in regards to schedule a time for an interview. In no time I was sitting in a Holden Dealership with 2 bosses writing down nearly every word I said. They briefed me on the job and company, and asked me questions in relation to my resume. My Honda expertise kicked in here, because after the weekend I got called back for a second interview.

It went from 15 applicants to 3 for a second interview. The interviewers really got to the nitty gritty and gave me the whole

Nice one Mel! Congratulations!!

I didn't go to University and don't regret it at all, the only thing I feel I missed out on was the social scene. My wife started Uni when she was 21, so you can always go back later if you want to, depends really how the job is going and what direction you want your career to take.

Good luck!
