Oil - max to min in 5000km?
Is it normal to burn this much oil in only 5000km? It's not leaking coz there's none on the garage floor.
Is my baby ****ed?

A lot of people find that their S2000 uses a lot of oil, especially when it's young. Mine never did, but there you go. A lot seem to just go on like that with no ill effects, others get better, and others go bang (search for number four cylinder problem). There are modified oil bolts on later models I believe. If it's out of warranty get it checked by someone you trust, and if it is in warranty keep a meticulous record of oil changes and oil levels every time you buy petrol, or Honda will blame you when it goes.

In the user manual it states that VTEC can induce oil comsumption and hence you are instructed to check the oil every time you fill up!
Mine never used up oil unless I was at the track. Then it was something 1/8 qt per track day (which usually involved a 1200 kms drive to and from). I forget how much oil the min-max markers represent but I think it is 1/4 qt (anyone?). If so, your oil comsumption wouldn't be much different from what I used to get assuming you only have two speeds: VTEC and off..:-)
Mine was USDM BTW, don't know if the AUSDM manual is the same.

My S2000 uses between 1 Litre in 4,000kms and 1 litre in 6,500kms.
An engine like the S2000 does use some oil because of the clearances etc.

The car has done 55000km now. Not sure what oil is in it, whatever Lexus put in at the 50000 service. It might say on the service record which I don't have in front of me at the moment.
Why did I get it serviced at Lexus? Coz that's where I bought it and I got them to throw in the first service for free. In hindsight a stupid move as I ended up with a dead battery, paid for a wheel alignment I probably didn't need and bolts missing from the fuel rail. Grrrrr. Well part of the reason is coz dad has a '97 Lexus ES300 and he does nothing but sing their praises so I thought I'd give them a shot, having had a very bad run with service centres.
