Stereo System Installation (Updated 14/8/06)
I wanted to have everything hidden in this car, so i have tried to go for a stealth install..
Stereo Components:
Headunit: Sony CDXM-9900
Splits: Kicker SS series 6"
Amp: JL Audio 300/4
Sub: Xtant X1244 DVC 12 inch
Wiring: Stinger Expert series
Misc: DCI
Harness adaptor
Optima Battery
Nokia Bluetooth H-Free
I started this project with the sub box, Removed the tool kit and took an impression of the space with fiberglass.
Next was to make a MDF ring that fits inside the mould so that the top can be affixed to it. This was done so if i needed to change the sub configuration later i can so by making a new top.. not the whole thing...
GF lending a hand..
Filled with bean bag balls to work out box volume. 36 litres exactly, enough for the Xtant
Fabricated and installed top plate...
Priming and spraying colour (Charcoal hammer finish)
Sub Installed and box mounted.
I made up a cloth/grill covere which sits ontop of the box to hide the install and so i can still use the boot space
Hidden!
Wiring up harness and DCI
Head Unit Installed
Its a tight squeeze, but the Optima and Stinger Accs all fit!
Running the cables.. Best done without the seat!
Amp Installed under the rear shelf..
With the doors striped, heres my mate installing the splits on a MDF ring.. I decided to leave the tweeters screwn into the main driver as i didn't like to drill holes in the door trims just yet....
I believe that sound deadning is very important if you want to get the most out of speakers.. This stuff is called Stinger OverKILL.. worked really well and went on easy..

Nice work 
I think i talk for the rest of us when i say thanks for posting up install pics for those who want to do this mod in the future.

Awesome job and great write up
Why do you need to know the volume of the case and how did filling it up with foam measure it? Did you take it from that and put it into a measuring cylinder
