Default still burning oil after 47000kms ??!

we all know the s2k can burn oil and i did experience this at around the 7000kms

i checked the oil level in between the 5000-10000 service and it was at the low level

car was running quite rough and noisy whilst in vtec...
i quickly added oil and since then i have been checking the oil level in between services at about the 2.5k after the service since i service it every 5k

hadnt noticed any oil lost... i am at the 47k mark
then around the 45k mark checked the oil and it was 2Xs from the H mark..

had the car serviced at 46k ..told them i had to add oil and check for leaks and they found none....i checked the oil after the service it was nice and clean and to the H mark

dunno y i decided to check the oil at 47k but it was already 3Xs from the H mark

i am just using the honda feo type r oil .....
anybody experience this????? no oil consumption for ages then suddenly oil being lost again ??????

oil checkin is a religion for the s2000

I can't believe your post for an owner who's been a member of the board for 247 days!

You checked the oil once in between 5K and 10K miles? I'm not surprised VTEC was a little rough! You need to check your oil on a weekly basis at a minimum with this car. Oil consumption will vary with how it's driven, with VTEC driving usually consuming more oil.

I don't know the brand of oil you're now using, but you should be using fully synthetic stuff by now. Try a switch to Mobil 1

Hey good luck but you need to pull that bonnet catch a little more often!

Hey, I stopped burning oil after 10,000km or so.

I can put my oil to H on one service, and 10,000km later, still have it on H, or so close that it doesn't make a difference.

fireball:

Having to add oil to one or two Xs on the gearstick is nothing in relation to the mileage you're doing. You can't expect a high performance engine of this nature to ever reach a point where it doesn't consume any oil at all. It sounds like you don't really have a problem at all.

LOL.

Busted! O.K. I wont edit that one!

Seriously, you're very fortunate if you never have to add any oil at oil. Oil consumption will vary from engine to engine though, and many owners will envy fireball's oil consumption.

You sure you're VTEC'n ??

In day to day driving, I wouldn't vtec. I intentionally change gears below 5000rpm. You should see what that does for fuel efficiency!

But I'd say probably twice a tank, I'd go for a hard drive, which means every tank spends about 10 minutes in VTEC.

I'm not part of the HSSC... So probably not. The problem is, all the HSSC events are on Sunday Morning, when I am at church. I might skip church a few times for it, but not every month...

I spent a while vtec'ing through the Bundeena National park today. That was my bit of fun for the week. There was this XR8 following me through a lot of it. Lost it around the curves, but it kept catching up to me on the straights.

cedric : i check my oil usually every 2500km not 5000-10000miles !

but on this occassion i checked after only 1000kms after a service...i did check it straight after the service to make sure the oil was at the h mark ...

i vtec at least a few times a day and hadnt had any oil usage from between the 8000km to 45000km mark
strange now its doing it again.... hmmm
maybe i'm driving harder now ????
